We’ve previously announced that we’ll require DEX Z-Codes for certain molecular diagnostic test services on facility and professional clams. As of April 1, we’ll update the codes that will require a DEX Z-Code on a quarterly basis. You’ll need to check for the new codes before the beginning of each quarter.
This change is part of our UnitedHealthcare commercial plan Molecular Pathology Reimbursement Policy, Professional and Facility and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan Molecular Pathology Policy, Professional and Facility Reimbursement Policy.
Using the DEX Z-Code with the appropriate CPT® code on a claim will clearly identify the test being performed. We urge laboratories that haven’t registered with the Palmetto GBA DEX Diagnostics Exchange to register today by visiting dexzcodes.com.
