Update eligible Medicaid patients’ PCP in the portal

Available in AZ, FL, MO, NJ, NY, RI, TX, TN, VA and WI

We’re expanding availability of a feature that allows you to update your patients’ primary care physician (PCP) easily through the Eligibility and Benefits tool in the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. This functionality update will happen in phases and apply to eligible Medicaid members in select states.

As each state becomes available, this functionality will be added to the Eligibility and Benefits tool based on the member search.

How to update your patient’s PCP

  • Go to UHCprovider.com and Sign In with your One Healthcare ID
  • Select Eligibility, search for the member and scroll down to view the Care Provider information
  • If the PCP needs to be updated, under the Primary Care Physician box, select Change Primary Care Physician
    • This option will only appear if that member is eligible
  • From there, follow the prompts and submit the change

For step-by-step instructions, view our guide.

Any changes will be effective the day they’re made, however they may take a few days to show in the portal. The member may receive a letter and a new ID card when applicable. Please note, the portal doesn’t allow you to make retroactive or future changes.
