Bill of Sale updates

January 2025

In early 2024, our Finalization Document changed from being a Delivery Receipt to a federally required Bill of Sale. The Bill of Sale is to be completed, signed and submitted in the Provider Portal at the time of the hearing aid fitting.

Professional fees can only be paid when the Bill of Sale is completed. System updates no longer allow for manual overrides without correct documentation.

Please review how to properly complete and submit a Bill of Sale document by taking our Bill of Sale Training in our UnitedHealthcare Hearing Portal Guide > Close a Sale.

PCCs can now assist with patients signing the Bill of Sale

We continuously look to streamline processes that impact your ability to provide patient care. In March, we introduced state-specific Bills of Sale to complete as the finalization of the sale.

Now:

  1. Providers can electronically sign and close the document to come back to when you are ready to capture the patient’s signature
  2. Providers can electronically sign ahead of the patient’s fitting appointment and allow your PCC to log in and complete capturing the patient’s signature

The Bill of Sale is not considered complete until all signatures are captured, and the document is submitted. This should be done on the day of the fitting. Professional Fees will not be paid until there is an accurate, completed Bill of Sale on file.
