Secret shopper to verify Provider Directory information

September 2024

To comply with the federal No Surprises Act’s requirements for Provider Directory data accuracy, we’ve established a formal process for self-audits of our Provider Directory.

This process ensures accuracy, allows for any necessary corrections and retains documentation of the audit. We’ll conduct these self-audits as random-sample secret shopper calls. If any incorrect information displayed on the Provider Directory is discovered during the secret shopper, we’ll update it for your practice.

Data that is in scope for these secret shopper calls includes but is not limited to:

  • Clinic name
  • Clinic address
  • Hours of operation
  • Provider name
  • Provider specialty/license type
  • Accepting new patients
  • Languages spoken (besides English)
  • Pediatric services (if indicated)
  • Offer mobile services

Our network oversight team has already begun conducting secret shopper calls to review the information displayed on our Provider Directory and ensure its correct.

You play a vital role in ensuring the data displayed on our Provider Directory is correct and current. Please ensure that your review and update all provider and practice information as needed through the quarterly attestation process in the UnitedHealthcare Hearing Provider Portal. Learn more by exploring the provider and practice attestation user guide.
